Smile Optimizing website for 'the web' results

    Hello All,

I am trying to unlock mystery of the results from "the web", whenever you search Google.

Take for example, if I am trying to score worldwide rankings on "the web" of Google.co.uk, Google.com.au, Google.ca, then what strategy should I use ??

I know very well that to optimize for Google.co.uk, you need to have quality back links from UK. Along with that your I.P , country specific domain helps, but what about the "the web" results.

Does "the web" shows results which are a combination of worldwide websites combined with UK results, or they are something out of this world

Please let me know your thoughts on this. I would appreciate your inputs.

The main Google is Google.com (The global version) so if you rank well in the .com for a generic keyword, the chances are you will rank well in all country specific Google's.

Obviously if your targeting "UK Poker" you're going to rank better in G.co.uk than you are in .com.

So if it's a generic keyword you targeting like "Performance Parts" you're going to score well on all of them. The only disadvantage you will have is competing sites from that specific country.

However, Google.com when accessed from UK shows results which is a mix of UK websites and worldwide websites.

Similarly Google.ca shows mixed results from Canada websites + worldwide websites.

So how should one optimize for .com. If you are submitting your website to a high ranking UK directory (UK IP ADDRESS) which is a .com directory, Google will still treat it as a website belonging to Google.co.uk, and will display higher rankings in Google.co.uk as compared to Google.com.au.

Even Google.COM results changes when you access Google.com from U.S, U.K, Canada, or Australia. So whats the best strategy to optimize worldwide for .COM version so that your website shows top rankings under "the web" results.

I would also like to know whether Google.co.uk ( The web) is same as accessing Google.com from UK, and what strategy should one use to optimize for "the web" OR UNIVERSAL .COM results ?

I am bit confused over this issue.

That's because it's a default setting, try using a proxy. In fact there is a FireFox Plugin that allows you to view results from different search engines. If it's not in the "FireFox Tools" section I will dig it out for you.

For get what the ext is, only because it is a .com, it doesn't mean it's US based. Get links from US based directories rather than .co.uk, .ca or .com.au

    Thanks for the info.

Meanwhile, I use https://adwords.google.com/select/Ad...ingPreviewTool to check rankings of any website anywhere across the globe.

Its a really nice tool, since you dont have to use PROXIES. Simply choose your region, and Google.com OR google.co.uk. You will get to see your ranking results worldwide from various regions.
