SEO is The Short form for Search Engine Optimization, the process of increasing the amount of visitors to a Web site by ranking high in the search results of a search engine. The higher a Web site ranks in the results of a search, the greater the chance that that site will be visited by a user. It is common practice for Internet users to not click through pages and pages of search results, so where a site ranks in a search is essential for directing more traffic toward the site.

SEO helps to ensure that a site is accessible to a search engine and improves the chances that the site will be found by the search engine.

As with the web, no definition for items on the web can be static or all conclusive. Your contribution to this term is appreciated.

Algorithm
An algorithm is a set of finite, ordered steps for solving a mathematical problem. Each Search Engine uses a proprietary algorithm set to calculate the relevance of its indexed web pages to your particular Query. The result of this process is a list of sites ranked in the order that the search engine deemed most relevant. Search engine algorithms are closely guarded in order to prevent exploitation of algorithmic results. Search algorithms are also changed frequently to incorporate new data and improve relevancy.

It was really helpful to mention basic things. Though there are lots of people who are already familiar with this, thank you for the info.

I don't care if Wikipedia is specific. I would never have know it was Wikipedia if you didn't point it out. I want people on the forums to be able to know with out having to go to Wikipedia.

I will next time, I was still enjoying reading other's thread, but rest assured that I will create my own thread. That was my mistake that I did not include which one, but I just quoted what webfinity said, and I was thinking that every person who will visit this thread will make a contribution about web.

I think what I have said above is enough reason for your thoughts. Thanks for the comments.
